Adjustable infeed and outfeed tables
From CAD weldments to working hardware at BUILD RVA

In 2024, Biangle Labs was working from an office studio at BUILD RVA, a local makerspace. The workshop’s planer needed a better arrangement for feeding and collecting material. We designed and fabricated a pair of adjustable tables around the existing machine.
A useful improvement for an existing machine
The brief was straightforward: give the planer an infeed table and an outfeed table, with adjustable positions. Our role covered design and fabrication, taking the arrangement through CAD, drawings, welding, assembly and alignment beside the planer.
Model the frame, keep the tables adjustable
We developed the weldments in CAD, working out the support frame and the two table assemblies together. The model brings both support tables and their common base into one assembly.
The infeed and outfeed tables could be adjusted independently. Simple adjustment points allowed their positions to be set separately, with access retained for table-height adjustment after assembly.
CAD → fabrication → installed tables
The CAD model, fabricated weldments and alignment photographs document the same workshop improvement. Each image opens at full size.

Draw it, weld it, fit it
With the CAD complete, drawings were printed and the project moved into the workshop. Welding and assembly turned the model into the installation shown here. The 2024 build went from idea through CAD, drawings, welding and assembly in under a week.
The photographs preserve the fitting stages: separate table assemblies before mounting, the infeed side mounted and adjusted, and the outfeed table aligned with the planer bed.
Practical engineering, followed through
A welded frame and accessible adjustments gave the workshop space to feed and collect material. The project followed a direct path from CAD to the shop floor, with fitting and alignment included in the work.
